Motorists in NSW will no longer be warned when they approach a mobile speed camera on the road.

The change to the speed camera warning signs was announced on Thursday and will be rolled out over the next 12 months.

It means some warnings signs usually seen 250m and 50m ahead of mobile speed cameras will be scrapped.

“This is about changing culture and changing behaviour,” NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance said.

“We’ve seen it happen with our world-leading mobile phone detection program, where the rate of people offending has steadily declined.

“No warnings signs mean you can be caught anywhere, anytime and we want that same culture around mobile speed cameras.”
